Pharmacopoeia Street

This street continues for 600m along the road across from the Central Public Order Center on Namseong-ro and is based on the drug market established during the Chosun period. As the oldest drug market in the nation, it became permanent after the drug stores moved as the castles and inns in the north side of Daegu Eupsung became demolished. Not only was it the nation's first drug market but has played the base role for the distribution of medicinal herbs in foreign markets and is the precious cultural heritage of the entire nation. A festival is held for the oriental medicine every May.

Hee-do Mansion
(former) Hee-do Primary School

This was the location of 'Hee-do Primary School' in 1926. It was also used as the Ministry of National Defense building during the Korean War. Former President, Jeon Doo-hwan(39th class) is a graduate. In 1956, the Jongno Elementary School enters the lot after new construction.

(former) LEE Hye-Young Orthopedics

The red brick building on the right side is the Kyonam YMCA established in 1917(present Daegu YMCA) with 40 patient rooms, wooden walls, complex structure and just line of rooms without a single chair in the corridor. It is presently empty.

Cheil Church

This is the work of the Chinese architect and engineer, MO Mun-guem. This is the first Christian church in the Gyeongbuk region and if it hadn't been preserved as cultural heritage by the Supreme Court in 1994, people would not be able to enjoy the great red brick building and the bell tower. Although there was repair work due to a fire in April of 1995, the traces of the fire can still be seen from the top of the bell tower.

Yeongnam Cheil Hall

This had been the location where the (former) Daenam Oriental Clinic had been. It is presently restored in the Mangwoo Park of Suseong-gu.
