Museums (Medicine, Missionary,
Educational & Historical Museums)

As the strong structure built with the harmony of traditional Korean and Western-style architecture along with the Western-style garden, this was the company housing of missionary workers that built the Widespread Relief House. This building was used as a hospital until year 1997 and was built with rocks that were left over from demolishing the Daegu Eupsung. With its great esthetic value, students majoring in architecture have chosen this place as the subject of their thesis. There are missionary, medicine, educational and historical museums.

3.1 Movement Street

There is a small yet beautiful street on the right side of the Dongsan Mansion where one can walk the 90 stairs and the wooden path. As the 3.1 Movement Street of Daegu, it has been said that the male students from Gyeseong School and the female students from Shinmyung School gathered between the pine grove of the Dongsan Hospital to walk past the great market of Seomun Market, Jongno to the present Daegu Department Store, during the 3.1 Movement that occurred in Daegu on March 8th of 1919. It was also called as the 'Street of Missionaries' because it led from the house of American missionaries to the Widespread Relief House(currently Dongsan Hospital), Shinmyung School, Gyeseong School and downtown.

Museum of Medicine

Based on the Widespread Relief House established by Missionary Johnson in the Medicine Street in 1899 and the Western treatments, it was the first medical institution known to introduce Western medicine in the Gyeongbuk region to treat its patients.
