Yun Hyojeon (1563-1619), family origin Namweon, child name Yeongcho, penname Gicheon, passed the civil service examination in 1605 and was registered as a 1st grade retainer of Iksagongsin retainer but this was revoked later due to his participation in the Injo revolution (1623). The portrait of Jeon Yunhyojeon shows typical characteristics of retainer's portraits of early 17th century in which a person was sitting towards half-right direction wearing Gyoeui and Samo while placing a hand over the other hand with a showy Chaejeon on the floor. His appearance wearing Seadae over Gongjakhyungbae, however, is not consistent with his rank upon his registration as a Iksagongsin retainer. Therefore, it is assumed that those parts were staged to celebrate his re-appointment as a prime minister by his son, Yunhyu's letter of appeal in 1629. The overall style and asthetic feeling of the portrait are quite similar to a painting known as Seogyeong Yugeun's (1549-1627) 71st portrait, which is Treasure No. 566 and was inherited by the head of his family in Gwesan in Chungbuk. Size (Length X Width): (Figure) (Total)
